Prelude in f minor, is the second single from the forthcoming af album from Nicolai Kornerup. The danish pianist is joined by bassist Jakob Roland and drummer Henrik Holst Hansen. Together, the piano jazz trio, creates beautiful nordic melodic landscapes blended with a warm wooden sound.

The tune is derived from the prelude in f-minor, from J.S. Bachs first book of The Well Tempered Piano, done for the piano trio in an improvised approach, moving in and out of the original theme. Not far from the timber of Jan Johansson and Keith Jarrett, the music lives in a very special place between worlds.

“It’s actually a very fun piece to do improvising over, because it’s chord-like and it works well play slow, so one can follow along. It’s still hard to do, moving in and out of contrapunctul music, and not that essence of music cares about difficulty, but Bach and Jazz is good for you mind and soul, so Bach’ed up jazz must be the best for your mental heath then.”

Recorded on reel-to-reel by Henrik Holst Hansen (while he was also playing drums!!!) in Mill Factory in the fall of 2023.

Released 18th of october 2024

'The Absent' is the first single of the upcoming album with Nicolai Kornerup, Henrik Holst Hansen and Jakob Roland.

The song is a paraphrase of an old Moldovan folk song, unfolding in a pianotrio setting. With a gentle and present piano sound, this music masterfully evokes a deep sense of absence and longing—a musical reflection on the loss of someone dear to you.

'The Absent' is the first single from his third solo album, which brings his music into a more jazz-influenced sound, while still honoring the legacy of folk and classical music.

Released 13th of september 2024
